CMO MAGAZINE Senior Writer
Chief
writer and reporter for monthly magazine aimed at strategic issues
facing chief marketing officers at Fortune 1000 companies. Developed
and researched story ideas, wrote at least one feature story and
shorter pieces for every issue. My stories were instrumental in CMO
being named Magazine of Year by The American Society of Business Press
Editors (ABSPE) after having published only four issues.
Topics
written on include profiles of executives, new marketing strategies,
branding, how to handle mergers, new technologies for reaching the
customer and within the enterprise, career development, best practices,
breaking news and trends.
Participated in development and
refinement of magazine concept prior to launch in September 2004.
Created departments like the front-of-the-book Buzz section.
Created
and wrote the daily blog Collateral Damage, an insightful and humorous
look at marketing and business in general. Collateral Damage drew more
traffic than any other web-only content on the CMO website. That blog
and other of my contributions to our website helped the site win awards
as New Web Publication and Best Overall Web Publication by The American
Society of Business Press Editors (ABSPE) in 2005.
Conducted and edited podcasts, including a weekly roundtable on marketing news.
Served
as “the face of the magazine” at industry conferences. Helped organize
and moderate annual conference for CMOs. Suggested session topics and
panelists on understanding new media, strategic significance of brands
and marketing in China, the last of which I moderated.
